Rio de Janeiro, postcard of Brazil, is currently buzzing with energy and excitement as it welcomes teams from around the world for the FISU Championship Beach Sports.
The majority of the teams have arrived and we can already feel the atmosphere changing as athletes prepare to showcase their skills on the sands of Botafogo beach.
“Our expectation for the week is to try our best. We have a lot of guys that haven’t played a lot of internationals, so we’re just super excited to see what else is out there, what other styles other countries play and, hopefully, learn a lot from the experience. I’m looking forward to my stay in Brazil beause it’s just beautiful, all around me”, said Gage Basey, beach volleyball athlete from the United States.
Upon arrival, many teams have wasted no time in getting down to business. Several squads have already held their first training sessions. These early trainings have given a glimpse of the high level of competition we can expect in the coming days.
The organization team has been actively involved welcoming the teams, assisting with logistics and providing support where needed.
