The Rio 2024 FISU World University Championship officially starts on Monday (2) with the opening ceremony. However, this Sunday (1), the heads of delegation meeting was held in Rio de Janeiro.
At the meeting, important topics were covered, including meals, transportation, accommodation, medical care, and schedules. Luciano Cabral, FISU First Vice-President, welcomed the athletes, and Ali Masarri Al Dhaheri, FISU Executive Committee CISCA Chair, spoke about the significance of participating in this competition and the importance of networking.
Of the 35 participating countries and regions, 20 were present: Argentina, Austria, Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Great Britain, Germany, Hong Kong – China, India, Kosovo, Lithuania, Oman, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Uruguay, and the United States.
At the end of the meeting, the heads of delegation were able to ask questions and make suggestions for improvements to the organizing committee.
On Monday morning, technical meetings for beach handball, beach volleyball, and beach soccer will take place. The beach wrestling technical meeting is scheduled for September 6th.
